Magickal Hymn to Aradia

This is a Latin hymn written to Aradia which consists of eleven stanzas, each of which is eleven syllables long. I personally consecrated the hymn myself and thereafter offered it up to Aradia. Magickal hymns can be read one or more times for spiritual empowerment, guidance, etc., or it can be incorporated into a ritual.

This prayer consists of magickal chants created by V.K. Jehannum, the Temple of the Black Light, Wiccan Tradition, Traditional Witchcraft, Demonolatry (specific text: Honoring Death), and the 218 Current (specific text: Liber Azerate). Translations of foreign phrases appear in brackets. The prayer is to be recited thrice and the witch is to make one to three requests for Hecate to fulfill prior to recitation.

A Rite to Davcina (Damgalnunna)

{This ritual calls upon the Goddess variously known as Damkina, Davcina, Damgalnunna, Ninhursag, Irnina, and more to strengthen the witch’s strength of character, increase wisdom, empower the psychic senses, and increase maturity. While the ritual script is provided here, any precautions such as circle-casting and any material accompaniments for ritual use are entirely left to the judgment of the sorcerer. The foreign phrases are translated in brackets, and the two lengthy untranslated paragraphs of what will appear to be gibberish to the celebrant are simply many names of Damkina used as words of power}

It is our coven gnosis that Astaroth is an aspect of the entity which appeared to various cultures by the names of Ishtar, Isis, Astarte, Attar, Ashera, and Inanna. Both Stephany Conolly and the Coven of the Golden Sigil had verified this gnosis of ours through their own gnosis before we did. E.A. Koetting, however, disputes this consensus in his book Evoking Eternity.

Koetting argues that since the Astaroth of demonology is a baleful male entity rather than a loving woman, they must be separate entities. However, Astaroth’s appearance in demonology hearkens rather strongly to the varied cultural depictions of Astaroth, one of which was referred to as “She Who Walks on a Dragon” and created a certain species of serpent. Since the Astaroth of demonology traditionally manifests riding a dragon and carrying a serpent, the case for the one-ness of these divinities is clear. Peter Grey has interpreted the pentagram in Astaroth’s sigil as being a reference to her power, as Isis or Ament, over the realm of the dead. Astaroth’s appearances depict her as the queen of the dead and the underworld, and Qliphothic demonology paints Astaroth as one of the Qliphoth’s eleven rulers. Demonology and mythology both paint Astaroth as primarily Venusian in nature, just like Ishtar. Amon is one of Astaroth’s recorded inferiors, associating her with the Egyptian pantheon.

To best understand this deity, Attar, Astarte, Ishtar, Isis, Ashera, and Inanna must all be studied. Nonetheless, this article will restrict itself to covering Astaroth henceforth.

Astaroth frequently appears to black magickians as female, but usually manifests as male. He is purportedly all-knowing, willfully revealing secrets and divesting answers regarding the past, present, and future alike. His auspices are useful in research projects and he can make the witch knowledgeable concerning any liberal science. He specializes in matters concerning friendship, romance, money, blood magick, luck, prosperity, initiation, murder, psychic vampyrism, sanguine vampyrism, atavisms within the causal, shapeshifting in the astral planes (atavisms in the acausal), clarity, divination in lucid dreams, skrying, sadistic pleasures, past life visions, communion with the Higher Self, hydromancy, pyromancy, necromancy, divination with bones, astral time travel, lust, practicality, predatory warriorhood, and warfare.

According to A Manual of Occultism by Sepharial, Astaroth’s legion of demons (the eighth legion) specifically pursues the persecution of Christians. I had had multiple intimations and intellectual reasons for considering eight as being magickally relevant to Astaroth, so the attribution of her to the eighth legion (by Sepharial) finally got me convinced.

Astaroth can initiate the magickian through all ten Qliphothic spheres as well as the Trans-Qliphothic Labyrinth (only seek that second one with guidance– it’s very dangerous).

Astaroth can impart the approval and good graces of powerful people to the witch. He can teach the magickian to empower thoughtforms for healing purposes and the pursuit of monetary wealth. He can create a powerful thoughtform—a guardian of the homestead.

ASTAROTHAbove: Channeled Sigil of Astaroth

According to The Book of Sitra Achra, Astaroth is the “Master of the Liminal Points of Crossing” and the “Lord of the Dark Gate” who may guide the sorcerer to and through the Abyss (that’s what lies beyond the gate). According to The Queen of Hell, once Astaroth opens his gate and the witch dares to cross it, she is stripped of ego and will experience “visions and manifestations.”

Astaroth liberates the sorcerer of the myriad restrictions placed upon her spirit by the physical-ness of our universe, opening the “Eye of Abaddon” such as to permit them to perceive the truths which lie behind the veil of causality.

While most grimoiric demonologists described Astaroth as hideous, The Book of Ceremonial Magic by Arthur Edward Waite describes the being as a “beautiful” man.

Agares 2.jpgAbove: Depiction of Agreas by G.A. Rosenberg for Pathworking or an Altar Piece

Agares is a Venusian Duke of the Infernal Plane who name, properly pronounced “EGG-arr-oss,” translates to “Strength Hoard,” and he calls himself “the Judge of the Idle.” According to Rufus Opus:

This spirit is good for making things happen quickly and for getting a situation that has stagnated moving again. He’s also good at bringing back those who run away, like thieves or willful children. He can teach languages and tongues, which is the difference between learning Spanish or French and learning Enochian.

He also destroys both Supernatural and Temporal dignities. That means he can reveal a priest or Pope as a sinner if they are corrupt, or he can tear down politicians by revealing their failures. This works in office politics as well. He basically reveals that people who pretend to be of a certain social status aren’t what the pretend to be.

Agreas can make the witch courageous. He can makes others act with courage or give the witch the ability to inspire courage in others. He can teach magick, especially malediction. He can help the witch undo prior indoctrination. The removal of, for example, Christian indoctrination or racial guilt/shame is the first step of alchemy, called nigredo/blackening.

Agares s

Aguares can help one army defeat another, and he can bestow positions of power upon the witch. It is recorded that he can incite dancing. He teaches all languages and halts the progress of the witch’s target. Agares can cause earthquakes and bring about the downfall of people in positions of power, including positions of a spiritual nature.

If Agares can turn the tide of war, he can surely effect victory in other group competitions and one-on-one combat. He should also be able to teach strategic thinking and impart combative skills and abilities. And if Agares can incite dancing, he can surely incite other forms of revelry as well.

Agreas can improve the witch’s ability of spirit communication. He can facilitate the communication of the witch with her higher self and bridge the gap between the conscious and the subconscious.

According to Demonolater T.B. Scott,

Agares is the first Duke to be mentioned in most versions of The Lesser Key of Solomon. The Golden Dawn assigns Him to the Succedent Decan of Aries, thus insinuating that His is a Solar presence. His Nature is, indeed, very indicative of resonating with Solar Archetypes—He is a Demon of action, motivation and growth as well as being strongly representative of the importance of seeing endeavours through to completion.

It is tempting to compare the Magickal Image of Agares with that of the Hermit as found in the Tarot. Here we have a solitary figure, an old man—upon His fist He carries a goshawk, replacing the traditional element of the lantern within in the Hermit card. As the Hermit’s lantern illuminates His path, so does Agares’ ever-watchful goshawk keep a steady eye fixed upon its surroundings. However, unlike the free-standing Hermit, Agares has decided to carry Himself upon the back of a strange ally—the crocodile.

When John R. King IV asked Agares if he could provoke runaways, Agares said he could make them “go into the wilderness and eat bugs.” The impetus he uses to cause such a departure, as he describes it, is guilt/shame—he knows what lies deep in the hearts of us and he can stir those faults at will.

agares z

Agares brings about the reconciliation of parties and improves the witch’s communication skills. He can stop runaways and fugitives and teach the witch all languages.

Agarus’s tarot attributions are discussed by T.B. Scott as follows:

Although we may be inclined to associate Agares with the Hermit, He is best represented by the 3 of Wands. Although His seal is subject to variation from source to source, we can clearly see within its basic shape a pattern of three’s. There are three circles, three unattached arms of the cross and three bands at the bottom of the shield. The number three has a great deal of occult significance—examples being the triplicity of the seasons of life (birth, adulthood, death) and the threefold Nature of linear time (past, present and future).

Because His Nature is fiery, motivating and active, it makes sense to assume that His Decanal association with the Sun and Aries lend him both Solar qualities and those aligned with the Ram of the Zodiac. The Three’s of the Tarot may be viewed as being representative of commenced action—we may break this down into such thoughts as beginning something new, motivation or going forward. Agares’ interest in “making them to run that stand still” suggests that we are correct to attribute the action-based principles of His Solar-Aries assignment to those lessons of His which encompass breaking free from old ruts, rising to the challenge and persevering.

The 3 of Wands can also indicate a tendency to cling to shallow ideals such as appearance, power and wealth. Because Agares’ inspires us to look beyond what is visible on the surface, we find that His traditional powers include “power to destroy dignities” and “causeth earthquakes”. Both of these actions consist of the razing of structures, both symbolic and literal—of destroying what once was in order to return a state of being to its most basic foundations. Through the destructive power of Aries, the jaws of the crocodile, we are stripped bare—exposed to the light of the Sun and entrusted to the care of the nurturing Mother. Through the warming of the Sun’s rays we attain new growth and perspective, guided by the light of the Morning Star, Venus—the eyes of the goshawk.

Agares instructs the witch in the art of shapeshifting and empowers the astral double for combat. He can help the witch become immune to psychic attack and program her aura so that she will be able to better intake the magickal blessings and healing spells of other witches.

According to Michael W. Ford, Agares assisted in the construction of Ford’s Shadow/Sethanic alphabet.

The numerical value of Agares’s name in Gematria is 205, identical to the value of Adar, the Hebrew month relating to Pisces, as well as the words Gebar [Man (of Uprightness) and Gabar [To Prevail/To Have Strength/To Be Powerful/ To Be Mighty/To Be Great]. Other correlations to this number include Hafakpak [Perverted/Crooked], Gibbor [Chief/Giant/Champion/Valiant Man], Geber [Man/Strong Man/Warrior], and Hor, a mountain on the boundary of Edom.

Dictionairre Infernal describes Aguares as “a lord drawn by wires on the back of a crocodile, and sparrowhawk on his fist.” The Lemegeton described him as ” an old fair man.” Ars Goetia replaces the word “sparrowhawk” with “goshawk” and adds that he is “mild in appearance.” T.B. Scott intereprets this appearance:

Both the goshawk and the crocodile represent higher vision, caution and the need for vigilance. Symbolically, the old man is illustrative of wisdom through experience, perseverance and even fragility. It is quite a worrying situation in which a fragile old man has committed himself to being reliant upon the strength of the crocodile whose powerful jaws could easily rend him limb from limb; but this insinuates profound and unspoken trust on the part of the old man—even his dependence upon the sharp eyes of the goshawk leads us to conclude that, as a pinnacle of wisdom, his experience has given him reason to believe that his life and well-being are safe in the deceptively dangerous guardianship of beasts.

Agarus appeared to me as a thin man in a white robe with a light emanating about his head– a halo, if you will.

The traditional enn or summoning chant for Agaros is “Rean ganen ayar da Agares.” My chant to summon Agarus and simultaneously presence infernal energy is “Liftoach Pandemonium, et germinet Agaros,” which translates to “Open the Infernal Plane, and Bring Forth Agaros.”

This name formula, channeled for my upcoming grimoire, consists of eleven names, several of which are channeled. I spelled some of the secret names, approved for public release, such that they would be pronounced right the way an uneducated hillbilly would sound them out. Others were broken down into their syllables, with syllables which equate to know English words (“Uh” counts as a word) being presented as that word spelled entirely capitalized letters. This formula is too powerful for beginners, so I’ve enchanted the formula such that whosoever recites it will only tap into as much of its power as they can handle. Should the celebrant experience waverings of confidence (paranoia, doubt, etc.) of the severity which could fuck up the working being performed, this formula is enchanted such that the intent will manifest purely. Lilith’s Esoteric Saturnian Aspect

In Qabbalah, Qliphoth, and Goetic Magic, Thomas Karlsson posits that Lilith’s true throne is within the Qlipha known as Satorial (Lucifuge/Saturn). This postulation has been disputed by various authors– after all, it can be seen as counterintuitive. This article serves to defend Karlsson’s postulation.

According to Dion Fortune, the nature of Lilith is comparable to an inversion of the Sephira known as Binah. Binah is attributed to the planet Saturn and is considered to be a feminine manifestation of Jehovah’s power. Obviously, Satorial is the infernal equivalent of Binah. Binah is the third emanation of Lilith, and the number three relates to the moon. There were three angels summoned to battle Lilith (Senoy, Sansenoy, and Semangelof). Moreover, there are three primary astrological bodies to which Lilith is attributed: the asteroid name after her, the Black Moon, and the dark moon, the last of which might or might not exist (seek your own gnosis). Her three lesser/minor astrological attributions, Earth, the Moon, and Saturn, also relate. This makes a total of six astrological attributions.

Myself and my fellow witches always felt that the number six was relevant to Lilith. The demons “influenced” us to use it, but we never knew why. As it turns out, six is the mystic number of Binah.

The value of Lilith’s name in Gematria is 480, which is the value of Qilleshown [Hebrew: Three-Pronged Pitchfork] and Jeduthun (one of the three servants of song). 480 is also the value of “ayeth”, the last three letters of the 42-letter (4 + 2 = 6) name of Jehovah attributed to Malkuth (the Telluric Sephira which Nahemo/Lilith mirrors). 480 is also the value of “attuwd” [Hebrew: He-Goat/Ram/Chief One], “shaquf” [Hebrew: frame/window casing], “poth” [opening], “sheqef” [Hebrew: framing/door]

Binah is often referred to in Judao-Mysticism by the Hebrew word Ama, meaning “Mother.” The word Binah has a decisively dark connotation, whereas the word Aima, meaning “Mother” in Hebrew as well, has a lighter connotation, and is a title for another Sephira.

Lilith
Above: Artwork for Lilith Pathworkings by G.A. Rosenberg

Countless LHP authors have began referring to the Matron of Temple Prostitution by the title Ama Lilith, which moniker originated as a reference (and clue) to the Saturnian aspect of Mother Lilith.

The title “Ama Lilith” has a numerical value of 522. 5 + 2 + 2 = 9, and there are nine boxes in the Kamia square of Saturn. Gamaliel is either the ninth or second Qlipha depending upon where one starts to count. 522 is also the numerical value of the phrase “va-Avadtem” [Hebrew: You shall serve]. Lilith’s violation of such a decree is the most common mythological narrative about her.

Scholem also attributes Lilith to the planet Saturn, writing “In the Kabbalah, influenced by astrology, Lilith is related to the planet Saturn, and all those of a melancholy disposition-of a ‘black humor’-are her sons.”

The North is attributed to the planet Saturn, and Lilith is known as Tzafoni, or “the Northerner.” The numerical value of Tzafoni is 236. 2 + 3 + 6 = 11, the number of all things magickal, demonic, and infernal. 1 + 1 = 2, and Lilith is the second sex who rules over the second Qlipha. 236 is also the value of the name of one of the aforementioned three angels invoked against Lilith.
